🔹 General

Instacar is a digital platform that makes the used‑car market more transparent. Using data, mathematical models and AI, we help buyers and sellers make decisions on equal footing, with the same information. Our goal is to make searching, checking, valuing and selling/buying a car more convenient, safer and more predictable — even without expert knowledge. Instacar is not a public authority, not a car dealer and not an insurer. We are an independent technology company built to help private individuals. Our marketplace features are under development to enable direct buyer–seller contact without intermediary mark‑ups; the platform may charge a usage fee, but we do not add dealer-style margins to the transaction.

How much does Instacar cost to use?

Downloading the app and using the basic features is free.

Some services (for example a detailed value estimate or additional vehicle details) are available using coins. Coins are one‑time purchases — there is no subscription and no automatic renewal.

If you register your own vehicle with validated registration‑certificate data, the value estimate for that vehicle is available free of charge (see “Register your own car”).

Our upcoming marketplace features may include a platform usage fee, but we do not add dealer-style margins to the transaction.

There are no hidden costs.

How does license plate lookup work?

After you enter a license plate number, Instacar displays the vehicle information that is legally accessible from official registries.

The app can use multiple sources: basic registry data and, for certain paid lookups, additional technical/equipment information from partner databases.

Instacar does not show personal owner data, does not disclose insurance contract details, and does not modify registry records.

Data coverage and freshness depend on the underlying sources. Each lookup reflects the data available at that time.

How can I top up coins?

You can buy coins in the app or on our website via the “Top up balance” menu.

Payments are processed securely via Stripe.

Coins are credited to your account immediately after a successful transaction.

If the payment succeeded but coins do not appear, restart the app. If the issue persists, email us at info@instacar.app with the transaction time and details.

Why did my coins disappear?

Coins belong to the specific account you are signed in with.

If you sign in using different methods with the same email address (for example email+password vs Google/Apple), the app treats these as separate accounts. Coins and purchases will not be visible across different sign‑in methods.

Please make sure you sign in with the original method. For help, see “Account & sign‑in”, or contact info@instacar.app.

How will I know when new features are released?

We continuously improve Instacar and release new features.

We announce updates in the app, in release notes, and on our official communication channels.

Keep the app up to date to access new functionality as soon as it becomes available.

Instacar reviews

You can find user reviews and ratings in the App Store and on Google Play.

We also publish selected feedback and updates on our official channels.

Where is Instacar headed?

Our goal is to make used‑car buying and selling more transparent and less risky, so trust can replace suspicion.

We build an environment where buyers and sellers can decide based on clear information, and where the transaction becomes more predictable and safer.

Marketplace capabilities that support direct buyer–seller contact are under development.

🔹 Value estimate

Instacar’s value estimate is a data‑driven calculation based on AI and statistical modelling. It provides an objective, comparable reference point for a vehicle’s likely market value. It is not a listing price and it is not a guaranteed sale price. The model analyses vehicle specs and market patterns, but it cannot see the car’s unique, real‑world condition.

What is my car worth?

Instacar’s value estimate provides a data‑driven reference point for your vehicle’s likely market value.

Use it as an objective starting point for pricing; the final sale price depends on the car’s unique condition, equipment and current market demand.

How does Instacar calculate a car’s market value?

The estimate is produced by an AI (machine‑learning) model that analyses patterns in large volumes of historical and current market data.

It considers factors such as model and equipment level, year of manufacture, mileage and the market behaviour of similar vehicles.

The model assumes an average condition for the vehicle’s age and mileage; it cannot see the unique real‑world condition of a specific car.

We do not add dealer margins; the goal is a realistic private‑to‑private market reference value.

How accurate is the value estimate?

The estimate is based on statistical modelling of market data. It represents the midpoint of a likely price range, not a guaranteed sale price.

Differences can be caused by the car’s unique condition, rare equipment, special versions, or short‑term supply/demand changes.

Listing prices can also differ from actual transaction prices.

The model’s purpose is to support informed decisions with an objective reference point.

Why is the estimate different from prices on listing sites?

Prices on listing sites are asking prices and often include negotiation room; they are not always equal to the final transaction price.

Individual condition, equipment, rarity and local demand can also shift the achievable price.

Instacar’s estimate is a data‑driven statistical reference — not the price of any specific listing.

Why isn’t a value estimate available for cars older than 22 years?

For older vehicles, price is influenced much more by unique condition, rarity and sometimes collector perception.

In this segment, the spread between well‑kept/restored and worn vehicles can be very large, which makes reliable statistical estimation difficult.

We only show an estimate when the data‑driven calculation is professionally justified and sufficiently reliable.

What does the value estimate not take into account?

The model cannot see a specific car’s real‑world condition.

It does not directly account for items such as cosmetic wear, accident repairs, non‑factory modifications, recent servicing or refurbishments.

For EVs, it may not reflect the battery’s true health (SOH) unless reliable data is available.

The estimate assumes an average condition for the given age and mileage.

🔹 Data discrepancies & updates

Instacar displays data from officially available vehicle registries and from partner databases. Each vehicle page shows the timestamp of the data shown. Data freshness and availability depend on the underlying sources. Instacar does not modify registry data.

Why doesn’t the mileage match?

Mileage values come from official recorded events (for example inspections or other registry events).

Discrepancies can occur due to administrative errors, delayed updates, instrument limitations (e.g., 5‑digit odometers), or older records.

Instacar does not change registry data; it displays what is officially recorded.

Why does a vehicle show as withdrawn if it’s already back on the road?

Withdrawal and reinstatement are official procedures and updates may take time to propagate across systems.

Short delays are possible because multiple systems synchronise periodically.

If the status has not updated for several days, please check the official sources and contact the relevant authority if needed.

Why can’t I see the latest inspection yet?

Inspection data is not always visible immediately in the central systems after the event.

Instacar shows the latest available data state; updates may appear after the underlying sources synchronise.

Why do I see historical (previous) data on the vehicle page?

Each vehicle page shows the timestamp of the data displayed.

If the central source is temporarily unavailable or overloaded, Instacar may display the most recent successfully retrieved dataset (historical data).

In such cases the page clearly shows the date/time of the data state.

Instacar does not modify registry data; it displays timestamped data states.

Can I correct registry data in the app?

No. Instacar is not authorised to modify official registry records.

Official corrections can only be initiated through the competent authority.

🔹 Privacy & security

Instacar displays only vehicle information that is legally accessible. We do not display or disclose personal owner data. License plate lookups are not used to identify an owner. We handle only the technical data required to operate and improve the service.

What do you do with the license plate I enter?

The license plate is a technical identifier used to retrieve legally accessible vehicle information.

We do not use license plates to identify owners and we do not display personal data.

We process lookup-related data only to the extent necessary to operate and improve the service.

How do you handle data?

We process the technical data required to run and improve the service.

Lookup statistics can be used in anonymised form to improve performance and accuracy.

If a user explicitly consents, we may use interest patterns from searches to personalise the experience (for example, relevant vehicle suggestions).

We do not sell user data or behaviour-derived data to third parties — neither individually nor in aggregate.

Where does the data come from?

Instacar uses multiple, separate data sources.

License-plate lookups display the officially available registry data that is legally accessible.

Additional technical/equipment details may be available via partner databases using coins.

The value estimate model analyses patterns in large volumes of historical and current market data. The exact availability and freshness depend on the underlying sources.

Can you tell which insurer covers a specific car?

No. Instacar does not display or disclose insurance contract data of third parties.

MTPL (mandatory liability insurance) details are not public information.

If you purchase insurance through Instacar, your own policy information is of course available to you.

Can you tell who owns the vehicle?

No. Instacar does not display or disclose owner or other personal data.

License-plate lookups contain only the vehicle information that is legally accessible; the owner’s identity is not part of the public dataset.

You can register your own car in the app, but that information is only visible to you.

Marketplace features may enable contact by explicit consent, but this does not mean owner data is disclosed.

🔹 Mandatory insurance (MTPL)

In Instacar you can compare and purchase mandatory third‑party liability insurance (MTPL). The insurance process is handled via a broker partner; Instacar is not an insurance company.

How does mandatory insurance (MTPL) work in Instacar?

You can compare MTPL offers and purchase a policy digitally in the Instacar app.

The app shows the available MTPL offers on the Hungarian market to enable full comparison.

With your consent, vehicle details can be prefilled to make the process faster.

Insurance purchase is handled via our broker partner; Instacar is not an insurance company.

Do I have to switch if the app finds a better offer?

No. Instacar may notify you of better offers, but switching or purchasing a new policy happens only with your explicit approval.

When will Instacar notify me about a better MTPL offer?

If you enable notifications, Instacar can alert you ahead of your policy anniversary if a better offer is available.

The notification is meant to give you time to decide; any change requires your approval.

Why does Instacar show ‘no insurance’ when the car is insured?

Insurance data may not update instantly across all systems.

MTPL information is recorded and synchronised across multiple systems. After a new policy, insurer change or payment, there can be a delay before the updated status appears.

Instacar displays the officially available data state and does not modify insurance registry records.

If the mismatch persists for an extended period, please contact your insurer.

🔹 Coins & payments

Coins are Instacar’s pay‑as‑you‑go units used for selected premium checks and additional information. There is no subscription and no automatic billing.

What are coins and what are they used for?

Coins unlock selected premium features such as detailed value estimates or additional vehicle information.

Coins are one‑time purchases; there is no subscription and no automatic billing.

Why are some services paid?

Some lookups and data retrievals have external costs (for example, partner databases and processing).

Coins let you pay only when you use a premium service, instead of paying a mandatory subscription.

I bought coins, the payment went through, but I didn’t receive them. What should I do?

First, restart the app and check your coin balance again.

If the issue persists, email info@instacar.app with the transaction time and details (and a receipt/screenshot if available).

In most cases the transaction can be traced and resolved.

I paid but it says “no additional data”. What does that mean?

For some vehicles, there may simply be no additional data available in the underlying sources at that time.

Instacar does not invent information; it only displays data that is reliably available.

Try again later, and if you believe the result is incorrect or misleading, contact support with the transaction details.

How can I request a refund?

If your payment succeeded but you did not receive access/coins, please contact info@instacar.app with the transaction details.

We will review the case and help resolve it based on the payment record.

What payment methods are available?

Available payment methods can vary by platform (Android/iOS) and by country.

If you cannot see a specific method (e.g., carrier billing), it is typically a limitation of the platform or payment provider.

🔹 Technical help

If you experience an error, slow responses or missing data, the steps below usually help. Some lookups depend on external systems, so temporary outages can happen.

Why does the app show ‘An error occurred’?

This is usually a temporary system or connectivity issue.

Lookups can involve multiple systems. If an external source is unavailable or your connection drops, an error may appear.

Restart the app, check your connection, and try again a few minutes later.

Why hasn’t lookup worked for days?

Sometimes an external data source can be temporarily unavailable or degraded.

In that case lookups may fail or return limited information until the source recovers.

Why is lookup slow?

Lookups may depend on several sources; if any upstream system responds slowly, the overall response time increases.

This can happen during peak load periods.

Why did a failed lookup count toward my daily limit?

In some cases a lookup attempt can start and be counted even if it later fails due to technical reasons.

If you believe your limit was reduced unfairly, contact info@instacar.app with the plate, time and a screenshot (if available).

‘No data found for this vehicle’ — what does it mean?

It means that for this plate, no data is currently available for the selected lookup type in the underlying sources.

This is not necessarily a technical error.

It often doesn’t work on iPhone/Android. What should I do?

Make sure you are using the latest app version.

Restart the app (and your phone if needed).

If the issue persists, contact support with your device model, OS version and app version.

🔹 Account & sign-in

Coins, saved cars and purchases are tied to the specific account you sign in with. Most “missing coins” issues are caused by signing in with a different method (email/password vs Google/Apple).

I can’t sign in even though my email and password are correct

Please check that you are using the same sign‑in method you used when registering.

Instacar can support multiple sign‑in methods (email/password, Google, Apple). Using a different method can create a different account.

If you still can’t sign in, contact info@instacar.app with your email address.

After an update I can’t get in, and my coins/saved cars are missing

This usually happens when you sign in with a different method than before.

Coins and saved cars belong to the original account; they are not lost, but they are only visible when you sign in to that same account.

Sign out, then sign back in using the original method. If needed, contact info@instacar.app.

I can’t enter the registration code / the screen doesn’t appear

This is typically a version or connectivity issue.

Update the app, restart it, and check your internet connection.

If the problem persists, send a screenshot to info@instacar.app.

Someone registered using my email address

Please contact support from the affected email address at info@instacar.app.

After verification, we can help resolve the registration issue.

The app signs me out automatically

This can happen after an update, after longer inactivity, or for security reasons.

If it happens frequently, contact support with your device, OS version and app version.

🔹 Register your own car

Registering a vehicle as “My car” links it to your account using validation based on the registration certificate. This improves convenience (saved vehicle, quick access) and enables free value estimates for your own car.

What does “My car” mean in Instacar?

“My car” links a vehicle to your account so you can access its page quickly and use features intended for your own vehicle.

It is not owner lookup; the vehicle is saved to your account only with your approval.

How can I register my own car?

Registering your own car is done using validation based on the vehicle registration certificate (document scan).

This helps the system reliably link the vehicle to your account.

If barcode scanning fails, please email info@instacar.app.

What does “validation” mean and what does the system check?

Validation means that the registration-certificate data provided matches what is needed to identify the vehicle reliably.

It reduces misuse and helps features work correctly.

Instacar still does not disclose owner data to third parties.

Why is the value estimate free for my own car, and how does it work?

If you register the vehicle as “My car” with validated registration-certificate data, you can create a value estimate for that vehicle free of charge.

Each lookup records a specific data state and shows its timestamp on the vehicle page.

If you want a fresh estimate later (for example because mileage changed), you need to look the plate up again to create a refreshed vehicle page — and you can again create the value estimate free of charge as long as the vehicle is registered as your own.

What if my own car or coins ‘disappear’ after an update?

Saved cars and coins belong to the specific account you are signed in with.

If you sign in with a different method (email/password vs Google/Apple), you may be in a different account and won’t see your previous data.

Sign in using the original method, or contact info@instacar.app for help.
